Dr Claire Bright is Associate Professor in Private Law as well as the Founding Director of the NOVA Centre on Business, Human Rights and the Environment at NOVA School of Law in Lisbon. She holds a PhD in International Law from the European University Institute, an LL.M in Private International Law and International Commercial Law from La Sorbonne Law School and a Dual Bachelor in French and English Laws from UPEC.
Dr Claire Bright regularly organizes short courses, events and trainings in the fields of Business, Human Rights and the Environment / Responsible Business Conduct, notably in Portugal, the UK, Mozambique, Tunisia and Brazil. Her work to date has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and contributed to shape laws and policies at national and European levels. In addition, she has acted as a consultant and contributed to various expert studies and policy reports for Governments, the UN Development Programme, the ILO, civil society organizations as well as for the European institutions, and notably co-authored the study for the European Commission on due diligence requirements through the supply chains which forms the basis of the recently approved Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

Elizabeth L. Cline is an author, researcher, and educator specializing in sustainabiliy and labor rights in apparel industry supply chains. She has written two books on the fashion industry—Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion and The Conscious Closet: A Revolutionary Guide to Looking Good While Doing Good. She also teaches two graduate-level courses in Columbia University's Sustainability Management Master's Program: Fashion Policy and the Politics of Government Action and Consumerism and Sustainability.

Elizabeth L. Cline

Klaus has worked for many years as an in-house legal counsel for one of the major EU textile retailers, focusing on intellectual property rights, unfair competition law, and product-related matters. For over a decade, he served as the company's Unit Lead European Legal Center of Expertise.
In this role, he provided legal advice to the global sourcing organization, including general terms and conditions, as well as various CSR-related matters. His experience encompasses OECD complaints and human rights arbitration proceedings under the Dutch Covenant.
Klaus represented legal counsel on the Steering Working Group responsible for ensuring compliance with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG). In this capacity, he supported the development of a two-way Code of Conduct and the integration of relevant ABA MCCs 2.0 model clauses into the supply chain terms and conditions. He further co-led the company's implementation process for a modernized AI-based grievance mechanism and HRE risk analysis tool.
Klaus studied Law and Philosophy at the University of Regensburg and Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Germany, and graduated there in 1989 with a degree in Law (two state exams with distinction). He contributed a section on the supply chain to ‘Moderecht, Handbuch’, published by Thomas Hoeren, 2019.

Chavi Keeney Nana is a Professor from Practice at the University of Michigan Law School, teaching anticorruption law and business and human rights, and directing the Human Trafficking Clinic + Lab. She also directs the Equitable Global Supply Chain program at ICCR and is a faculty associate at the Donia Human Rights Center. Her expertise includes anticorruption (FCPA), business and human rights, supply chains, and human trafficking, drawing from her experience as counsel at WilmerHale in corporate investigations and her pro bono work for trafficking victims.
